Playful Discovery

Novelty is the point. Perfect throws teach your brain nothing new.

You can do: One ball, one hand — both sides · This chapter adds: One ball, hand to hand

Finish the practice with a juggle

Last stretch of this practice, and this is where the second ball arrives. Grab your second ball. Warm up with twenty one-ball passes at one height. Then hold a ball in each hand. Throw the first up and across, and when it reaches the top of its arc, throw the second one underneath it. Catch, catch. That is the exchange — it is the whole of juggling, just twice. Ten attempts, then ten starting with your other hand. Throw from the same place every time, and don't chase — fix the throw, not the chase.

  1. One ball, hand to hand, twenty passes at one steady height.
  2. New: two balls, one exchange — throw right, and as it peaks, throw left. Catch, catch.
  3. Ten attempts. Then swap which hand starts and do ten more.
